About Westchester County Criminal History

Westchester County criminal records are divided among municipal police departments, County Police, the Department of Correction, local and county courts, and New York State systems. The office that holds a police report is not always the office that has the booking entry or final disposition. This private reference organizes the official portals, counters, and phone lines that can answer each type of records question.

Why We Built This Site

Public access in New York is fragmented by design. Westchester County Police keeps only its own incident and arrest records, while municipal departments keep theirs. The Westchester County Department of Correction controls county custody data. Court clerks hold case filings and dispositions. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Office of Criminal Justice Records and State Identification Bureau maintains fingerprint-linked state histories, but does not offer a public name search for another person's rap sheet. The New York State Sex Offender Registry and DOCCS Incarcerated Lookup answer still different questions. Bringing these routes together makes it easier to choose the correct official source.

What You Will Find Here

  • Local record routes: how court cases, police reports, bookings, and registry entries are searched in Westchester County
  • Personal review steps: how a person orders a fingerprint-based record from DCJS through IdentoGO
  • Official contacts: where to reach County Police, Westchester Correction, the court clerk, and state custodians
  • Record sealing context: how New York sealing and Clean Slate rules affect ordinary public access

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately operated reference, not part of Westchester County, a New York court, a police department, or any state agency. Its limits are clear:

  • It cannot retrieve an official history or perform an authorized records check
  • It cannot submit FOIL requests, sealing motions, or other filings for a visitor
  • It cannot certify a court file, police report, booking entry, or DCJS response
  • It cannot interpret a charge or offer advice about a specific matter
  • It cannot promise that a government office has not changed a fee, schedule, or contact detail

Only the Westchester County or New York office that maintains a record can supply an official or certified copy.

Search Partners

Search boxes on some pages are operated by outside providers. Those providers control their services, prices, and returned results. A paid signup reached through a search tool may generate a referral payment that supports free access to this reference. Westchester County Criminal History does not set the provider's fees or decide what its search returns.
